Mountain States Mennonite Conference

Description: We are a thriving, diverse urban Mennonite congregation founded upon Anabaptist principles of discipleship in the way of Jesus, the fellowship of believers and the path of peaceful nonresistance. We seek to embody the good news of Christ through the practice of worship, hospitality, peacemaking, discipleship, healing and respect for all.
Founded: 1988
Members/Covenanted Attendees: 93
History: Albuquerque Mennonite Church was established in 1988 by a group of young professionals in the University of New Mexico area. Over the years the congregation has sought to be an active Anabaptist presence in our culturally diverse community. A strong commitment to peace and justice continues to nourish a steady stream of growth as we have become increasingly visible. For the first 17 years of our existence we met in rented spaces--initially in an adoption agency office complex, then in a Messianic Jewish synagogue, and for about 10 years in a United Methodist building just off Central Avenue (old Rt. 66). In 2005 we purchased a 50 year-old meeting house from a Southern Baptist group on an arterial street, giving us much increased visibility and room to grow.
