Description: First Mennonite Church's vision is to grow as a God-changed community, inviting seekers to become devoted followers of Jesus. Our desire is to build believers and reach seekers. Sunday school classes and small groups create mini-congregations where everyone is cared for and prayed for within the larger congregation. The mid-week Church Family Night provides meal fellowship and growth opportunities. Children's and Youth Ministries complement adult Bible studies.
Founded: 1878
Members/Covenanted Attendees: 290
History: First Mennonite was founded in 1878 by Prussian immigrants seeking freedom from military conscription and economic opportunity. The present sanctuary with its beautiful stained glass windows was built in 1932. Our worship service went on-the-air live in 1953 with the beginning of radio. We are strongly involved in the mission of the larger Mennonite church while recovering the Anabaptist vision for making disciples here at home.
