Western District Conference

Description: We are Anabaptist Mennonites striving to follow Jesus in our time and place. We worship God-in-Christ through traditional and postmodern ways. We serve Jesus in the world through a variety of ministries including volunteering at the MCC Kansas Relief Sale, the ReUse It Center (a recycled building materials ministry birthed at FMC), Habitat for Humanity, MCC Meat Canning, and others.
Founded: 1945
Members/Covenanted Attendees: 136
History: In 1945 our congregation was born as 36 charter members adopted their constitution. During the early years services were held in numerous places around the city. On May 15, 1946 we had ground breaking for our own building and we moved into the basement of our church just before Christmas 1946. The church was dedicated on October 30, 1949 and had cost $60,000. Fire destroyed the building on January 29, 1963. On September 6, 1964 we had the dedication of the present facility. Numerous gifted pastors have led the congregation; active, committed lay leaders form the backbone of this congregation.
