Description: An Anabaptist congregation serving the needs of the community.
Founded: 1886
Members/Covenanted Attendees: 32
History: The first church service in the Ransom area was held in 1886. Jacob Aeby led a group of Mennonites, Reformed and Lutherans (all of Swiss background) from Gentry County, Missouri to Ness County, Kansas. During the early years of the church, people of other backgrounds--Lutheran, Reformed and even Catholic--worshipped at times with the Mennonite group, their common German language drawing them together. Today, First Mennonite is made up of people from various faith backgrounds.
