Pacific Southwest Mennonite Conference
FMCSF members serve as family to each other, coming together for worship, fellowship and service. Worship is a central part of our life together and services usually follow the liturgical year.
The congregation began in 1976 in the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco as a mission outreach by a couple from the Southeast Conference (Dayton, VA) in connection with an MBM Voluntary Service unit. Over the years, the congregation has largely been one of transplanted Mennonites. Due to the transient nature of living in the Bay area (due to professional and educational opportunities and the high cost of living), our congregation often serves as a temporary church home for Mennonites for as long as they live in the area. There is, however, a growing number who have made the Bay Area their permanent home. Ours was the first congregation in the Pacific District (GC) and Southwest Mennonite Conference (MC) to ordain a woman.
