Pacific Southwest Mennonite Conference

Description: We are a diverse, energetic urban congregation committed to Anabaptist principles with a special focus on worship, social justice immigration justice and radical welcome. We attempt to present an inclusive welcoming sense of family in all its forms that seeks to include children in activities. Expressions of our ministry include a Community Garden, Mennonite Voluntary Service, Service Opportunities for Older Persons, as well as a close relationship with Community Home Repair Projects of Arizona. We also have been in an active sister church relationship with Teusaquillo Mennonite Church of Bogota, Columbia since 2001.
Founded: 1978
Members/Covenanted Attendees: 70
History: The first meeting of (then) Tucson Menn. Fellowship was held October 15, 1967, continuing sporadically through 1970. In 1973 two congregations and a VS unit formed. Shalom resulted from a merger of these in 1978. In addition to ministering to its core membership, Shalom ministers people of all backgrounds and all histories, whether residing in Tucson for short or long term, serving our community with the gifts that God has given. In recent years membership has stabilized with good mix of ages and theological backgrounds.
