History:   On October 17, 1976 Northern Virginia Mennonite was conceived by the Spirit, born in the hearts and into the lives of several families in the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C. These families began calling others around them to join this faith venture. On October 9, 1977, sixteen people became charter members of Northern Virginia Mennonite Church, affiliated with Virginia Mennonite Conference and the Harrisonburg District with Harold Eshleman as overseer.
