History: Kern Road Mennonite Church began as Kern Road Chapel in the late 50's. It was started by five families with a vision for a Mennonite congregation in the city of South Bend. It has since grown into a strong Anabaptist congregation of approximately 215 attenders each Sunday. Congregational attenders are leaders and active members in the schools, businesses, service agencies, and health care fields of the communities in and around South Bend. The church is known for its outreach, service, and peacemaking efforts as well as for its music. We are an intergenerational congregation with many young children and often graduate students from Notre Dame.
