History:   Science Ridge Mennonite Church was founded in 1858 by Mennonites who moved to Whiteside County from Pennsylvania. Science Ridge founded the first Mennonite women's missionary society in Illinois, the first VBS in Sterling and hosted the first statewide conference. It still very actively supports Mennonite causes, as well as several local ecumenical service ministries.
